The Star, Sydney’s premier events and entertainment destination, is backing a variety of causes through sponsorship and vital support of iconic charity events.
On Monday 10 June 2013, as part of the live telecast of the Gold Telethon, The Star’s Managing Director, Frederic Luvisutto presented a cheque for $250,000 to Lisa Wilkinson, co-host of the Today Show, contributing all proceeds from a venue-wide fundraising campaign to The Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
A featured sponsor of the annual campaign, the Gold Telethon, The Star undertook three fundraising activities across the property to raise funds to support the work of The Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
Donations were collected in aid of the Gold Telethon, from attendees to the Seal concert on 28 April 2013, at The Star Event Centre. Proceeds from dinner service at The Star’s signature restaurants including Sokyo, BLACK by ezard, Momofuku Seiobo and Balla on Thursday 30 May 2013 were collected for the cause. In addition The Star’s mixologists created a cocktail in support of the Gold Telethon; The Liquid Gold cocktail was served across the 20 restaurants and bars at The Star, with all takings directly donated to the Gold Telethon.
Frederic Luvisutto, Managing Director, The Star highlights the importance of charities to the Australian community and the reason for their continuing support, “The Star is very proud to be able to provide the support to the charities we have and will continue to into the future. We recognise how important the services that the various Australian charities provide to our community and to be able to offer assistance in raising their profile and helping with fundraising is an honour for myself and the entire team at The Star,” Mr Luvisutto said.
Earlier in 2013, The Star supported the annual Emerald Ball, held at The Star Event Centre, Saturday 25 May 2013. The event raised much needed funds for the Kids Rehabilitation Centre at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The Star’s events team pulled out all the stops creating a unique event experience to delight and surprise the 900 event attendees at the Event Centre, recognising and celebrating the work of The Children’s Hospital. This included having a luxury car brought up on stage and beautiful table decorations with brilliantly lit centrepieces.
The Star extended their support donating a prize for the gala dinner live auction, of two nights’ accommodation in The Star’s five star hotel, The Darling Hotel and Spa and dinner at one of The Star’s signature restaurants up to the value of $200.
In addition, The Star will be supporting and hosting vital charity events in the Event Centre throughout the year, including the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation 2013 Rugby Long Lunch 14 June 2013, the Starlight Foundation’s Star Ball on 27 July 2013, theVictor Chang Ball 3 August 2013 and The Children’s Cancer Institute Australia Diamond Ball 31 August 2013.
